Latest Updates from Our Project:

Fully Funded! / Stretch Goal Plans! / Into the City!
almost 8 years ago – Wed, Dec 21, 2016 at 10:51:35 PM

You did it, people! Due to your tremendous support, Plague Road has successfully reached its fundraising goal and continues to grow. We're now more than 10% over our goal and couldn't be more thrilled with the enthusiasm from everyone about the game. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, thank you. thank you. thank you. tha-

Now that we're funded, many have asked about our plans for stretch goals. Because we're asking you to put your faith in us, our primary goal is to make sure that the game releases on time as promised. We don't want to introduce the possibility of delays by committing to additional content. As such, any amount collected in excess of the funding will be applied to improving the quality of our existing content, rather than expansion.

The first thing that we'll be looking to enhance will be the game's cutscenes. If we can achieve $40,000 in total funding, we'll be able accomplish this.

With that out of the way, it's time to share a bit more of the game's art and content with you. Here's a look at some of what awaits the Plague Doctor within the City's walls.

Early mock-up of City environment and enemies; subject to change

Once a marvel of civilization and a testament to humanity's mastery of its domain, the City is nearly devoured by the time of the Plague Doctor's return. Piles of diseased corpses lay uncollected, some merging together to take new life as shambling monstrosities. Control has been lost over the automatons relied upon to maintain social order and they now stalk the streets, assaulting anything that moves with ruthless efficiency.

Yet there is still life to be salvaged here. Survivors rescued in the City have the greatest potential to withstand its threats, giving the Plague Doctor a fighting chance at reaching the City's corrupted heart and fulfilling their ultimate quest.

We've started referring to the one on the left as Mr. Happy. We're bad at names.

That's about all for now. There remains just under a week left in the campaign, which also means there is less than one week left to order physical versions of Plague Road featuring the Kickstarter exclusive cover art. I've seen a rough draft and I cannot recall ever seeing box art like this. We're very close to revealing the cover and I think people are going to really love it. Once the campaign ends on the morning of December 28, it will never be offered again, so don't forget to lock yours in.

Cheers,
Conrad

P.S. Here's a rat.

Yup. That's a rat, alright.

Limited Run Games joins us on the Road! / Details for ordering additional copies!
almost 8 years ago – Tue, Dec 20, 2016 at 10:49:37 AM

We've had another really strong week with the campaign following the announcement of the physical PS Vita release and things are looking pretty good for Plague Road. Now we're back with even more exciting news about our physical releases.

It's our pleasure to announce we have partnered with Limited Run Games to produce the physical editions of Plague Road for PlayStation 4 and Vita! The gang at Limited Run Games has a great track record of producing physical editions for some of the best independently developed games out there and we couldn't be happier about having Plague Road be a part of that.

This also means something extra special for our backers is in order. The Kickstarter Edition of Plague Road will now ship with an exclusive cover, only available during the campaign. We're currently hard at work designing art for that cover and hope to be able to share it with you soon.

Want an extra physical copy of Plague Road?

The support for our added backer level offering a physical edition of Plague Road has been overwhelming so far, to the point where we have had a lot of people expressing interest in ordering additional copies. Always happy to accommodate, we've come up with a solution:

If you would like to purchase a second copy of Plague Road (or third or fourth; I won't judge you), just add $25 to your pledge for each additional copy you would like to receive and we'll make it happen.

"The Second Opinion" is only available to backers who have claimed rewards at $40 and above.

There's still a bit further we need to go in order to reach our goal and we're heading into the home stretch of the campaign. This is when we need your help more than ever to keep pushing forward and we appreciate every like, share, tweet, and smoke signal you can muster.

Thank you all for your continued interest in and support of Plague Road. We'll be back a little later in the week with a look at the City (and some of what lurks within it), so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Cheers,
Conrad

PS Vita Physical Limited Edition / Backer Reward Changes
almost 8 years ago – Tue, Dec 13, 2016 at 04:15:28 PM

We have a couple of exciting bits of news to share today.

From the start of the campaign, we've received a staggering amount of support from people happy to see Plague Road is coming to PlayStation Vita. But one request that kept coming up in our interactions with Vita fans was for a physical, boxed copy of the game for the handheld. So, after giving it some consideration, we're happy to announce that we will be producing a physical version of Plague Road for PS Vita in a very limited print run.

We also wanted to provide an alternative way to purchase the limited PlayStation 4 physical release, should there be people out there who would like the game on a disc but (for reasons understandable only to them) not the 6" Plague Doctor figurine.

Hence, we've added a new $40 backer reward, "The Hard Copy". At this level, you'll get your choice of a physical copy of Plague Road for PlayStation 4 or PlayStation Vita AND the Digital Deluxe version. We think it's a pretty good deal.

Those who have selected "Get a Physical", "True Survivor" or "Plague Master" as their reward will likewise be able to choose which platform they would prefer to receive their limited edition copy for.

We're two weeks in and halfway to our goal, so the campaign is looking good, but we still need your help to make Plague Road happen. Keep sharing the campaign with your friends, gaming communities and random strangers you meet on mass transportation! Together we can do this!

Cheers,
Conrad

PS4 Pro and PS TV Supported / Meet the Engineer

The team has just returned from PlayStation Experience 2016 where they had an amazing time showing Plague Road to attendees. It was great to meet so many PlayStation fans and show off our pre-alpha tech demo running on PS4. We also had a couple of announcements about versions of the game coming to Sony platforms next year:

  • Full support for PS4 Pro - The PlayStation 4 version of Plague Road is being designed with the power of the PS4 Pro in mind. All of our visual assets are being created to run natively in 4K on Sony's latest console iteration.

  • Full support for PS TV - We love the PlayStation TV just as much as we love the Vita. That's why we're thrilled to confirm that the PlayStation Vita version of Plague Road will also be available to play on your bigger screen through the PS TV microconsole.

Along with celebrating our successful adventures in Anaheim this past weekend, we also have a new Survivor design to share with you, the Engineer:

With their massive hammers and technological skill, Engineers make for useful fighters but also provide extremely valuable services to the Farm. By forging an alliance with the Guild of Mechanists, you'll be able to use their knowledge to develop advanced weapons. Engineers are also necessary if you wish to construct a train line back to the city, providing easier access to the game's later regions.

Thanks again for your continued interest and support for Plague Road! We still have a long way to go on this campaign and we'll have some really exciting news to share in our next update. Stay tuned!

Cheers,
Conrad

Gameplay Details and New Art for The Farm!
almost 8 years ago – Sun, Dec 04, 2016 at 04:04:46 PM

Hey everybody! The first week of the campaign has been amazing so far, getting more than a third of the way to our goal in just a few days! Thank you for all your support getting to this point!

While the campaign is ongoing, we still have the team working hard on development and we'll be making several posts with new content and a bit deeper explanation of game concepts as we go. Today, we have some new art to share, depicting what the Plague Doctor's farm will look like:

In terms of gameplay, the farm serves as Plague Road's primary progression system. When you return from an expedition down the road, survivors rescued on the journey will arrive at the farm where they can either be assigned to work or kept in reserve for use in future expeditions. Starting out, that's going to mean food production. By assigning people to produce food, you'll gradually increase the number of survivors you can have in the expedition party when you travel the road and how many you can keep in reserve.

That's just the beginning. Some survivors you meet on the road will require a bit of convincing to join you at the farm, but meeting their needs is rewarded with big improvements in the form of additional structures. You'll then be able to assign newly arrived survivors to work in these buildings and their work will lead to the availability of new skills and abilities, stat bonuses, consumable items and more that you'll need to push forward on the road. It will take the work of an entire community to stand a chance against what awaits in the City Center.

Speaking of communities, we'd just like to extend our heartfelt thanks once again to everyone in the Kickstarter community and beyond who have come together in support of Plague Road. Beyond the financial contribution, we're enormously grateful for all of the feedback, comments and sharing of the campaign we see here and on social media. Your participation is what's making this happen for us and we appreciate it.

Keep spreading that plague love!
